Ingredients for Keto Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry
You will need:
- beef strips or sirloin steak
- red capsicum
- broccoli
- birds eye chili
- olive oil
- garlic paste
- ginger paste
Sauce
- xanthan gum
- sesame oil
- tamari
- liquid stevia
- lemon juice
To Serve
- sesame seeds
- spring onion
- extra chilli optional
Substitutions and Ingredient tips
Keto Stir Fry can be very versatile, because you can adjust the flavours and vegetables to your liking!
You can dial up the spice with as much chilli as you want. I prefer my Keto Beef Stir Fry on the spicy side so use 2 whole bird eye chilli, leaving the seeds in but you can do as you please.
Using xanthan gum to thicken the sauce is key to getting that oozy texture. Without it, the flavour will be there, but it won’t cling on to the beef and broccoli and instead end up in the bottom of your bowl.
I buy my Xanthan Gum from iherb (link here) and you use such a tiny bit at a time, it lasts forever. If you have keto friends, buy one bag and divide it up and it will go really far.

Tips for making Keto Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry
- HEAT In a large frying pan or wok with lid, heat 1 tablespoon of the olive oil over medium-high heat.
- STEAM Add the broccoli florets and briefly stir fry until the oil is absorbed and they are vibrant green. Add 1/2 cup of water and cover with the lid. Steam for 3 – 4 minutes until just tender. Set aside.
- ADD In the same pan, add remaining 1 tb of olive oil over medium-high heat and add the garlic and ginger paste. Briefly fry until just fragrant then add the diced capsicum and chilli and fry for 2 – 3 minutes.
- SEAR Turn the heat to high and add the beef, searing on all sides.
- WHISK Meanwhile, prepare the sauce. In a small bowl, whisk together the xanthan gum and sesame oil until evenly combined. Add the remaining sauce ingredients and whisk thoroughly.
- TOSS Return the steamed broccoli to the frying pan once the beef is seared and pour over the sauce. Toss to combine and cook for 1 – 2 minutes until the sauce is thickened to your liking.
- SERVE Serve immediately with cauliflower rice or fried rice.
How many carbs in Keto Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry?
As you will see in the nutrition panel below, this Keto Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry has 14 grams of carbs and 5 grams of fiber per serve, so only 9 gram of net carbs.
Given this would be a main meal for the day, this is a reasonable amount of carbs. If you want to keep very low carbs, say under 20 grams per day, I would introduce this on an already low carb day.

Quick and tasty, this dish can be ready in a flash. Serve with cauliflower rice on its own.

Ha good pick up Natalie! The original recipe included the cauliflower rice and used the third tablespoon but I removed it as an optional addition. I’ve updated it now to just have 2 tablespoons of oil.
